The students have been working hard researching their state. What was an interesting fact you learned about your state?
We have been working hard in math all week.
Students: What does this phrase have to do with math this week?
Does McDonalds Sell Burgers & Cheeseburgers?
This week we discussed prime and composite numbers. Each group was given a set of 7 numbers. They then decided if each number was prime or composite using arrays to justify their thinking. Finally the groups created a poster to represent their numbers.
Students: What strategy did your group use to sort the numbers into prime and composite?
We have been working on inferring while reading. When we infer we use what the text is giving us plus our own life experiences to create an inference.
Students: Tell us about an inference you made while reading.
Today in class, we explored volume. First, we discussed where we see capacity in everyday life. A few of the items mentioned were putting fuel in your car, measuring medicine, and measuring milk for a recipe. We then investigated liters and milliliters and found that 1,000 milliliters is equivalent to 1 liter.
Our activity today was to predict how many liters our container would hold. We then used powerade/gatorade bottles that were filled with water (about 1 liter) to see how much water our container actually held.
Students: How did your group do with predicting the volume of your container?
